Cracker Creek Summer Camp Programs
If you’re looking for a fun and memorable day trip for your summer campers, then look no further! Now in our fourth year of operation, Cracker Creek continues to provide visitors a unique opportunity to experience one of the areas greatest historical and ecological treasures. We have hosted a number of groups the past three summers, providing either educational or recreational activities. We have a large covered pavilion with table seating and a stage providing an area for performances or presentations. Our location, on the western end of scenic Spruce Creek, is ideal for a number of recreational uses including canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking and camping. The Cracker Creek staff includes talented historic interpreters and themed characters that participate in a number of our offerings including educational programs, Pirate Boat Cruise, Themed Story Time and birthday parties. Listed below are examples of programs we have used in the past and will be offering again this summer.
Eco-History Pontoon and Tram Tour – This two hour educational program includes a pontoon tour on Spruce Creek and a tractor-pulled tram tour of the upland section of the property combined with our Nature Scavenger Hunt. Campers learn about the history and ecology of the area including the native plants and animals, early Indian and pioneer heritage and culture.
Pirate Adventure Tour – This two hour recreational program includes a Pirate Cruise and Treasure Hunt with costumed characters providing a fun and interactive experience for campers.
Canoeing and Kayaking – Designed for older elementary and middle school age campers, this two hour recreational activity allows campers to choose either a canoe or kayak and paddle on Spruce Creek. Cracker Creek is a licensed canoe/kayak livery, providing basic safety gear and instruction for paddlers. Parent liability release is required for participation in this activity.
